Case Study: HR Edwards and Sons CCTV
Security is paramount for any growing business. But CCTV isn’t just used to keep people safe. HR Edwards and Sons is one of the region’s largest poultry farms, with a large site encompassing 11 broiler poultry houses. The sheer distances involved in covering a farm of this size posed specific challenges that required expert planning and careful delivery.
Luckily for HR Edwards and Sons’ livestock, Goodridge Electrical Contractors Ltd’s security experts were on the case.
The client required reliable CCTV coverage of the site, with cameras located a large distance from the central office. The CCTV on site also needed to be easily scaleable in future, and be fully compatible with the business’ existing computer network and control systems.
Goodridge Electrical Contractors Ltd had already installed a computer network on an earlier project, and after discussions with the client, we agreed on the installation a CCTV system consisting of two cameras which could be moved and zoomed from the site offices.
The PTZ IP cameras we recommended offer a 20x zoom, and can read a number plate from 100m away in any light conditions – even in the middle of the night. We linked these cameras to the existing networks of the broiler houses, making use of the network panels we had previously installed.
Finally, we ensured that these cameras can be controlled and viewed remotely, either from the control system in the site office, or remotely from a laptop, tablet, or even a mobile phone.
One week later, the installation was finished, HR Edwards and Sons’ site managers had been fully trained, and the site was covered by a comprehensive CCTV network. As the farm continues to grow and expand, we can easily add more cameras, ensuring total security for our customer.
The end result? One very happy client!
